Shrimp Marinade
marinating shrimp before sautéing it on the stovetop gives the shrimp a chance to soak in a ton of flavor — and, in this case, that flavor is inspired by carne asada. Carne asada generally refers to thinly sliced beef that’s been marinated and char-grilled, but we love its spicy flavor so much that we decided to apply the aromatic marinade to plump and juicy shrimp, too.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 pounds peeled shrimp or steak
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 1 large jalapeño, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Place the water, olive oil, orange juice, vinegar, and salt in a glass measuring cup and whisk to combine.
- Place the shrimp or steak, cilantro, jalapeño and garlic in a large zip-top bag and pour the marinade in. Seal the bag and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight before cooking.
